CONCEPT- What I would do with MSU's Baseball Jerseys

Mississippi State has the potential for a great baseball uniform set.  They look good as it is, but a few simple tweaks and they could have a classic, untouchable look.  Here, I've introduced a new, consistent number font.  That same font has been applied to the "Mississippi State" wordmark and has been used to create a new "Bulldogs" wordmark.  A Mississippi patch has been added to the sleeve of each jersey.

The white and maroon jerseys remain with the modified wordmark and number font.  The pinstripe and maroon MS jerseys also remain, with the only change being the updated number font.  The "Bulldogs" wordmark is applied to the cream jersey and to a new gray away jersey.

These changes, I believe, would unify Mississippi State's baseball brand.  Adidas would be allowed to introduce two crazy alternates a year, for use in the SEC tournament only.

2015 Season Preview

The 2015 season is almost upon us.  The Bulldogs begin play on February 15, and Collegiate Baseball has given the them a preseason ranking of 20.  The Bulldogs will have an improved offense, something that cost them late in the season last year.  The pitching is less certain, but Butch Thompson, considered by many to be the best pitching coach in the nation, will find a way to make a productive staff.

The big question about the 2015 season is uniforms.  What will Adidas roll out this year?  Early photoshoots indicate that the regular uniforms will return; hopefully some of the Adidas catastrophes are gone for good.  I'd also rather have the black uniforms not return.  But, certainty expect some new Adidas expriments around SEC tournament time.  I'm fine with alternates in the tournament.  It's the regionals, super regionals, and college world series where they should not be worn.

This year, the uni tracker will have a modified form of presentation.  The full body templates have been replaced by a flat, 2D template that shows more detail on the uniforms.  Here is a preview of all of the uniforms worn in 2014 on the new template:

 

May 30-June 2: Lafayette Regional- W,W,L,L

It's regional time in college baseball, and MSU is headed to Lafayette, Louisiana to compete in the Lafayette Regional.  The Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys with pinstripe pants in game 1 vs. San Diego State.  In the winner's bracket game vs. Jackson State, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jersey withe gray pants.  The Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys with pinstripe pants again on Sunday, and wore the Maroon Throwback Jerseys with white pants in their last game of the season on Monday.

May 20-25: 2014 SEC Tournament- W,W,L,L

The Bulldogs played Georgia in the first round of the 2014 SEC Tournament.  In that game, they debuted a new jersey.  It is a pullover with the MS logo on the front with "HAIL STATE" on the front.  By far, it is the worst thing Adidas has done thus far for Mississippi State, and that's saying alot.  On Wednesday, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon Throwback jerseys with gray pants.  Coincidentally, they won 12-0 on Wednesday.  On Thursday, they wore a dark gray version of Tuesday's jerseys.  These don't look near as bad, as you can barley see the big MS logo on the front during gameplay.  On Friday, they ended the tournament looking good in the cream jerseys.

May 15-17: vs. Alabama- W, W, L

In their final weekend series of the regular season, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys with gray pants on Thursday, the Maroon Throwback jerseys with white pants on Friday, and the Black Jerseys with gray pants on Saturday.

March 9-11: vs. Tennessee- L,W,W

In their last home series of the year, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS Jerseys on Friday and the Maroon Throwback jersey with pinstripe pants on Saturday.  This was the first time the Bulldogs had worn the pinstripe pants since March 23; the Pinstripe jersey hasn't been worn since March 9 at Arizona.  On Sunday, the Bulldogs wore special Mother's Day uniforms with pink accents.

Adidas is at it again.

This time, it's Mother's Day uniforms in the 80's White Sox template with a pink stripe and Maroon outline.  It's hideous, but it's tolerable for one game only.

May 2-4: at Auburn- W,W,W

In their weekend sweep at Auburn, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys with gray pants on Friday, the Maroon Throwback Jerseys with white pants on Saturday, and the Maroon MS jerseys with gray pants again on Sunday.

April 30: vs. Jacksonville St- L

In their midweek loss to Jacksonville St, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon Throwback Jerseys.

April 24-26: vs. Texas A&M- W,L,L

In their weekend series vs. Texas A&M, the Bulldogs wore the cream jerseys and pants with the Maroon Hats on Thursday and Friday.  On Saturday, they wore the white throwback jerseys with camouflage hats to honor Veterans.

April 22: vs Ole Miss- W

In their Govenors Cuo victory over Ole Miss, the Bulldogs wore their White Throwback Jerseys.

April 18-20: Mississippi State at Missouri- W,W,W

The Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jerseys in all three games, wearing gray pants on Friday, white pants on Saturday, and gray pants again on Sunday.  This is the first time this year the Bulldogs have worn the same jerseys in consecutive, non-doubleheader games.

April 15: vs Alcorn State- W

The Bulldogs wore the white throwback jerseys in their midweek game vs Alcorn State.

April 11-13: vs Ole Miss- L,W,L

The Bulldogs wore newly-unveiled cream Adidas jerseys in Saturday's game vs. Ole Miss.  The jerseys are the 8th different ones the Bulldogs have worn this year, and one of the better ones.

April 2: vs. Southern Miss- W

As they have in their last few midweek games, the Bulldogs wore their white vests in their annual game vs. Southern Miss at Trustmark Park.

April 4-6: at LSU- L,L,L

In the first game of their weekend series at LSU, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon Throwback Jerseys with Gray Pants.  In game 2, they wore the Maroon MS jersey with white pants, and in game 3 they wore the black jerseys with gray pants.

March 29,30- vs. Arkansas- L,W,W

In their weekend series vs. Arkansas, the Bulldogs wore the White Throwback jerseys in both games of the Saturday doubleheader, and the Adidas Rainbow Jerseys in game three.  While I'm not a big fan of the Rainbow unis, I have to admit that they're better than the black unis.

March 25: vs. SE Missouri- W

The Bulldogs wore their white vest for the second straight midweek game in their win over SE Missouri.

March 21-23: Vanderbilt- W,W,L

In their best weekend on field, the Bulldogs wore their three best jerseys.  Is it a coincidence? I think not.  They wore the Maroon MS jersey, the White Throwback Jersey (for the first time this year), and the Maroon Throwback Jersey.  No rainbows or vests or Black.  Just traditional maroon and white.

February 14-15: vs. Georgia- L, W, W

In their opening series of the SEC season, the Bulldogs traveled to Georgia, wearing the Maroon MS Jersey over gray pants in their loss on Friday, and the Maroon Throwback Jerseys in both games on Saturday

February 11: vs. Southern Illinois- W

For the first time this year, the Bulldogs are wearing the white vests with the MS logo on them.  I believed them to be gone (replaced by the pinstriped jersey) as they hadn't been worn since early 2013 or late 2012. Yet, they are being worn tonight.  This brings the total number of jerseys worn this year up to 6, with the White Throwback jersey being the only one left unworn.  I am starting to fear that it has been retired.

March 7-9: vs. Arizona, UCSB- L,L,L,W

In their disastrous weekend in Arizona, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jersey in both games on Friday, the Maroon Throwback Jersey (with gray pants this time) on Saturday, and the pinstriped jerseys on Sunday.

March 5: vs. South Alabama- W

In their midweek win vs. South Alabama, the Bulldogs wore the Adidas rainbow jersey.  While I am not a fan of the jersey, I would rather it be worn during the week instead of on Saturdays, especially during SEC season.

February 28- March 2: vs Easten Illinois, Michigan State- W, W, W, W

In their 4-game weekend tournament against Eastern Illinios and Michigan State, the Bulldogs wore the same uniforms they did against Holy Cross the previous weekend, with the only difference being that the pinstriped pants were worn with the Adidas Rainbow jerseys instead of the black jerseys.

February 25-26: Mount St. Mary's- W, W

The Bulldogs wore their pinstriped jerseys and their Maroon throwback jerseys in two wins over Mt. St. Mary's

February 21-23: Holy Cross- W, W, L, L

In their first game vs. Holy Cross, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon MS jersey for the first time in 2014.  The White Throwback is the only one yet to be worn.  In Saturday's double-header, the Adidas Rainbow unis were worn for the first time in a game, after being used only as pre-game unis in last year's super regional and CWS.  The Sunday Black unis were worn with pinstripe pants this time.

February 14-16: vs, Western Carolina: L, W, W

In their first game of the 2014 season, the Bulldogs wore the Maroon Throwback Jersey.  They wore the white pinstriped jersey in their first win of the season on Saturday.  On Sunday, they wore their Black Jersey, the only bad looking jersey in their set ( It didn't help that WCU also wore black, making for a confusing uni matchup.).
