March 15-16: vs Eastern Kentucky, Oral Roberts- L,L

Camo is bad, guys.

Last week, Mossy Oak announced that they had given their official camo pattern to Adidas and Mississippi State to create a second camo jersey for the Bulldogs.  I'm not going to lie, I actually liked these at first.  Crazy, I know, but it made a ton of sense from a marketing perspective and it was incredibly appropriate for a team from Mississippi.  Being born and raised here, camo MSU gear is a common sight.  Seeing a version with the maroon and white 85 script actually looked good.  But the idea works better as a t-shirt, or even a fashion jersey.  It did not look good on the field, and the accompanying play did not help its case.

Wearing the camo jerseys, the Bulldogs blew leads of 7-1 and 12-6 (in the eight inning, no less) after pulling starters.  You would think, after losing one in camo, they would learn the lesson that you should never wear camo baseball jerseys.  I even tweeted that exact statement last night.  However, on Wednesday, the Bulldogs took the field wearing their other- digital- camo jerseys.  Again, they suffered another embarrassing midweek loss.

Camo is bad.  Especially when we have other jerseys, such as the Maroon 85 jerseys, that haven't even been worn yet this season.  Even further, the White 85 jerseys have not been worn since 2014- bringing those back would be a step in the right direction.

Let's dive into the uni stats as we head into SEC play.  Eighteen games in, the Bulldogs have worn only 5 jerseys, and have only worn white pants.  At this point last year, they had worn 8 combos, only two of which (Maroon MS and White MS) overlap with what has been worn thus far this year.

The Maroon MS jerseys have been worn more than any other- they were worn on Fridays during the first two weekend series and then were worn exclusively in the third and fourth weekend series.  In 8 games, the Maroon MS jerseys have a 5-2-1 record.

The White MS jerseys were worn in doubleheaders on Saturdays in the first two weekend series.  In a total of 4 games, the White MS jerseys have a 3-1 record.

The Digital Camo pullovers, an Adidas templated design from 2015, have unfortunately returned from last year.  In 3 games, the Digital Camo pullovers have a 2-1 record.

The Black 85 pullovers have been worn twice, both times with white pants and maroon hats.  In 2 games, the Black 85 pullovers have a 2-0 record.

The Mossy Oak Camo pullovers were introduced this Tuesday in a partnership between Mossy Oak, Adidas, and Mississippi State.  In 1 game, the Mossy Oak Camo pullovers have an 0-1 record.
